Cola Rebecca BRELAND

Neshoba Baptist Church Records Neshoba Community, Neshoba Co, MS Sister Mrs. Ben Rhodes Whereas on Sep 6, 1945, it pleased our Heavenly Father to call the spirit of Mrs. Ben RHODES from this world, her family and loved ones, Mrs. RHODES joined the church early in life and remained a regular and consistent member until bad health kept her on the bed of affliction for several years. Her cheerful smile and kindness presented a charm to all who knew her. We appreciate her many Sterling qualities as a wife, mother, and friend. In her unselfish manner she was always ready and willing to help others. Therefore, we desire to renew our sympathy to her family and loved ones in their hours of sorrow and pray God's richest Blessing upon them. Be it resolved by the Neshoba Baptist Church that a copy of these resolutions be placed upon the church minutes, a copy sent to Baptist Record and sent to the family. Mrs. Ruth WILSON, Mrs. Ethie McNAIR, Miss Marge D. VIVERETTE.

Dr. Isaac PORCHER

Isaac was a physician from the University of Paris. With his wife, Claude Cherigny, a native of Touranie, he fled soon after the Revocation to England, perhaps with his relative Claude Philippe de Richebourg, a Protestand minister.

The Huguenots of Colonial South CarolinaBy Arthur Henry Hirsch, Ph.D.1928, Duke University Press reprinted 1962 by Archon Books(pp 236)

Mr. Isaac Porcher, born in the town of St. Severre, Berry, France, and hiswife, Claude de Cherigny, a native of La Rochelle,[120] left France before the Revocation and emigrated to Carolina by way of the British Isles.[121] No record of their naturalization in England can be found. The will of George Baudoin mentions him as Mr. Isaac Porcher, Chirurgien.[122] The extent of hispossessions is unknown, but the quality of his character is well attested. Onthe occasion of his wife's death, on August 10, 1726, he wrote in his familyBible: "God give grace to make an end as Christian as she has done."[123] Theyhad lived together about forty-five years, having been married October 9, 1681.His son Isaac was a successful planter who at the time of his death, in 1743,owned 75 slaves, valued at £9,000, 30 hogs, 23 oxen, 123 cattle, 50 sheep, andother personal property.[124]
